are a fundamental part of Knowledge Bridge (kBridge). They are essentially a holder for Designs, which we will discuss in more detail soon.
Designs encapsulate a set of Rules. Projects group together a set of related Designs ("" has a special meaning in kBridge).
Sharing is a big part of kBridge, and Projects are the principal element that can be ‘shared." As you develop your own engineering automation applications, you will develop your own Designs in a Project, but you will also be able to incorporate Designs from Projects that have been developed by other people within your group, or even purchased from the kBridge App Store.
Similarly, once you create a Project, you can share it with others. The Project Browser, which you will learn about shortly, is the place where you create Projects and link them via sharing. The Project Editor, which is part of the kBridge Editor screen, is where you can create, edit, and delete Designs from your Project. You’ll be able to get your hands on all of this soon.
RELEVANCE: DESIGNS ACT AS SINGLE-LOCATION CONTAINERS
Engineers, designers, and architects like to think in terms of objects. A Design represents a conceptual object and organizes all of the Rules associated with that object into one place. This often brings together diverse information about that object, such as size, location, appearance, materials, related sub-assemblies, and so on. All this is information that, without kBridge, might be scattered in spreadsheets, design notes, or CAD files—or simply reside in your head.
