MyTableBaseDesignInADesign

1. Whenever a new Project is created, kBridge will create a corresponding initial Design that has the same name as the Project. In your case, kBridge created a Design,"MyTable".

2. The Context pane shows that you are editing the MyTable design.

3, Note that a new Design will, by default, have as yet no Mixins other than BaseAssembly. It Inherits from that BaseAssembly Design, which is a special Design in one particular way: it is necessary when the Design you make will contain Children—which you can think of as subordinate components in an assembly. Your Table will indeed have children, including some very necessary physical components, such as a table top and legs. Later, you will add objects such as a lamp to the table, as well as alternate Designs that kick in during a product configuration session.

In the example shown here, the Table Design can contain Children, because it contains BaseAssembly as a Mixin. You will learn about Children and assemblies in an upcoming lesson.
