In the Rule Editor, Formulas provided by Design Rules represent defaults until changed. Calculations can be constants or formula-based.
NOTE HOWEVER, that Formulas can be overridden in different ways, including the following:
•Parameter
oIf the Parameter flag of a Rule is set to true and if it is the Child of another part, then a new Parameter formula may be supplied by the Child Rule. In this case, the value for this Rule will come from the evaluation of the Parameter Rule formula, not the Design's default Rule Formula.
oThis is covered in more detail in subsequent Units on Parameters and Child Rules
oIf the Design is mixed into another Design that has a Rule with the same name, then that mixed-in Design's Rule will override the Rule of the Design it is mixed into. This concept is covered in more detail in the unit on Inheritance—see more.
•Model Rule—Note that Model Rules are special cases; 99% of development will be on the development of Design Rules
oIf a Model Rule of the same name has been applied to the Model instance, then that Model Rule formula will override the default Rule formula
