The purpose of a Discovery is to gain a better understanding of current products and processes, as well as to understand the resources, priorities, and goals for the Project. For Project success, you will need from your end-user(s) a broad range of examples. In general, it helps to get multiple examples of key drawings and documents. It is especially helpful to follow one typical job all the way, from pre-sales through manufacturing, and to have all the matching documents.
It helps if example drawings and documents are prepared in advance in both paper and electronic form wherever that is possible.
NOTE: Engineering automation requires an in-depth understanding of the end-users" organization, Design process, and products. To be successful, you need access to critical information, including drawings, Models, standard manuals, etc.
In addition, access to the relevant people from each area of your end-user"s organization is important.
